A note about caffeine: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists caffeine as a “multiple purpose generally recognized as safe food substance”. Humans have consumed caffeine since the Stone Age. It’s a naturally occurring substance with some of the best energy producing effects known to man.
Studies have shown that caffeine increases a person’s capability for mental and physical labor. Some studies have attained dramatic results; one particular study of trained runners showed a 44% increase in “race-pace” endurance, as well as a 51% increase in cycling endurance, after a dosage of 9 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight.
