Scott Wilk – Watercross

I started racing Watercross in 2006 with the encouragement of some friends after riding personal watercraft as a pass time since I was ten years old. My first year I raced as a Novice in Endurance and ended a great first season winning the Regional Championship and finishing third at the Supercourse Nationals held in Texas. In 2007 I switched gears to the more technical and fast paced racing of Closed Course. As I continued to compete as a Novice I pulled off another great season finishing on the podium at the Closed Course Nationals held in Nashville, TN and the IJSBA World Finals held in Lake Havasu City, AZ. For 2008 I felt it was time to move up to the Expert skill level and build a new race boat for the Open Class. As the season progressed I started to become more and more competitive and I ended up winning the Expert Limited class and finished second in Expert Open at Nationals. Then in 2009 I decided to focus more on racing Pro-Am Open to have the chance to compete against the best Pro riders in the country and race Expert Limited another season for fun. As the season ended I had won the Expert Limited National Championship and finished third on the National Tour in Pro-Am Open. The highlight for me of the season was pulling the holeshot in the final moto at the season opener, leading for a good portion of the race and finishing third overall. As the 2010 season is upon me this will be with fifth consecutive year of racing Watercross. New for this season I plan to shift my focus onto the Pro-Am Runabout Classes and compete on the entire National Tour in hopes to improve on last year’s season. During the off season I’ve been busy keeping myself in shape and reviewing the previous season to find what I can improve on for this year. I’m extremely excited as I’ve started to pick up some awesome new sponsors and hope to have a good showing for them and promote them to the best of my ability.
