Joe Piana – Moto GP

Joe Piana also known as “The Gambler”… The CCS Superbike Champion in 1997, coupled with four top-five finishes in CCS and WERA .In 1993 Joe was racing full-time, adopting the number 611 he has used ever since.He won five races (including 3 of the first 4) and finished third in the championship. Joe finished fifth in the CCS/AMA standings in 1999 on the new R6 Yamaha..Joe improved his performance to challenge for the title in 2000. 2001 was a winless season in CCS however scoring 13 podiums on board his Yamaha R6 finishing a respectable 3rd in the series, 2002 abd 2003 were disappointing years suffering multiple injuries and seriuos crashes,but in 2004 he returned to the series with Renegade on board a Suzuki GSXR1000 and was in contention for the championship until the final round. 2005 was a come back year, Joe contended for the Unlimited Supersport championship until the race of champios at Daytona, qualifying 13th however did not finish the race due to a mechanical failure. 2006 and 2007 found Joe sitting on the sidelines focused and working on his startup company- 2009 Qualified 28th and finished 11th in Daytona with his new sponsor LiveWire Energy, Palm Beach International raceway, qualified 15th and finished 7th, Jennings GP qualified 10th finished 3rd, Memorial Day race at Palm Beach qualified 6th DNF(crash), Heartland Park-Topeka, qualified 10th finished 8th, Road America qualified 6th finished 8th and Virginia International Speedway, qualified 5th finished 4th.
